Start your day sailing from Kaiteriteri beach, soaking up the scenery along the stunning coastline, passing the iconic Split Apple Rock and the playful NZ Fur Seal colony. Take in the golden beaches, bays, islands and birdsong. Learn about the history, marine life flora and fauna from your knowledgeable skipper before arriving at Anchorage Bay around midday.
Enjoy your own packed lunch on the beach or take a swim before starting your self guided nature walk back to Marahau. Stroll along sandy beaches via picture-perfect lookouts and through native bush and the beautiful scenery the coastal track has to offer ( 3-4 hour self-guided walk). 
Note: Free morning transfers  from Marahau provided. This provides you with the freedom to walk the coastal track at your own pace. Free all day car parking is available at the track entrance in Marahau.

Sailing Schedule:
8:30 am: Catch your free van transfer from Marahau (free all day parking available) to Kaiteriteri Beach.
9:30 am: Check-in with our friendly staff at the Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures ticket booth (located on Kaiteriteri Beach).
10:00 am: Meet your skipper who will help you on board your sailing catamaran, departing Kaiteriteri Beach for the Abel Tasman National Park. Along the way expect to see secluded coves, golden sand beaches, pristine clear waters and native wildlife. Stop at Adele Island bird sanctuary and Paradise beach on Fisherman Island. Visit the NZ Fur Seal colony and see the iconic Split Apple Rock.
12:30 pm: Arrive to Anchorage Bay where you have time to explore the area before starting your self-guided walk, following the clearly marked signs back to Marahau. 
3 - 4 hours later: Arrive to the National Park Entrance. As you have parked your car at the National Park Entrance earlier that day, you are under no time constraints to complete your self-guided walk. 

Complimentary tea/coffee and juice is provided on board.

Everyone will learn to introduce themselves, understand paddle commands and participate in a waka salute, all in te reo Māori. A fun and uplifting environment is created within the waka.

Once we leave Kaiteriteri we paddle north towards Toka Ngawhā Split Apple Rock, stopping from time to time for the guide to share some of the Māori history of the area.  We will stop at Toka Ngawhā for some light refreshment, time to swim, or relax on the beach.  From there we head back to Kaiteriteri to finish the experience by 12noon.

Let us show you the best of Abel Tasman National Park with Vista Cruise departures every day, year-round, from Kaiteriteri at 9.20 am, cruising all the way to Totaranui, calling in at idyllic bays and islands, then returning at 4.15 pm. During our summer months (1 October to 30 April) there are three Vista Cruise departures from Kaiteriteri to Totaranui and return:

  1. Depart 9.20 am, return 12.55 pm
  2. Depart 10.30 am, return 2.40 pm
  3. Depart 1.00 pm, return  4.15 pm.
During this time you can experience the length of the spectacular Tasman Bay coast in a morning or afternoon, or take a full day. 

From open or enclosed viewing decks, you have the opportunity to take photographs of our famous Split Apple Rock. Cruise into Tonga Island Marine Reserve and pause to see what the resident seal colony is up to. Skim past golden beaches and forested hillsides, and get close to picturesque bays as walkers and kayakers are transferred to the beach. 

Relax on board with comfortable seating around tables on upper and lower decks. Bring a picnic, order one of our delicious picnic lunches, or choose from our seasonal menu of tasty light meals, plus hot and cold drinks at the onboard licensed cafe. 

If you would like to join the action, book a beach stop with walking or guided sea kayaking to spend some time ashore in this breath-taking National Park.
