Upon entrance of Smith's Holiday Park you can park your car on the left side. Please arrive 5 minutes before tour starts. You will be picked up from the parking area.
After a hot drink and a narrated video you will have a look in the enclosures and a nocturnal building. The whole tour is guided by the founder of the centre.

Wildlife you may see include sting rays, eagle rays, seabirds, including cormorants, little blue penguins, seals, starfish and sometimes even dolphins.

If weather permits, you may also have the chance to kayak from Picton Harbour to maximise your time on the water.

Your guide will answer questions, share pearls of wisdom and ensure your comfort and wellbeing.

Dependent on the weather, your route may vary to take advantage of sea breezes at the back. There is no set route which means all ability levels are catered for on your tour.

This adventure combo is without a doubt, one of the best ways to experience the Marlborough Sounds. On your full day kayak and walking tour you will experience some of the iconic activities of the spectacular Queen Charlotte Sound. Spot rays and sea birds while learning about the lush native bush. Upon arrival at your departure location on the Picton Waterfront you will receive a detailed safety briefing before setting off on your full day kayak and walking tour. 

Your combo begins with a guided sea kayak tour in what is truly some of the best paddling in the Marlborough Sounds in the western arm of Queen Charlotte Sound. Within a short time you are exploring the shoreline, spotting wildlife and sea birds and learning about your surroundings.

Your kayak tour concludes a few hours later at the small settlement of Anakiwa. Here you can don your tramping boots and backpack, get some instructions for the walk ahead and depart on your independent hike of the Queen Charlotte Track from Anakiwa to Mistletoe Bay. This section of the track passes through some of the nicest bush of the entire 70km track. The walk is around 3-4 hours (11km) of a moderate level.

On your walk you can expect to see incredible Views, bush and beautiful beaches.

At the conclusion of the Queen Charlotte Track, you walk down to Mistletoe Bay in time for collection by a water taxi at 4pm to return to Picton. An enjoyable boat ride with fantastic views back towards where you have spent your day.

Sea kayak from the picturesque Picton foreshore, across the harbour and into the Grove Arm of the Queen Charlotte Sound. Stop on a sandy beach in this beautiful remote location for morning tea and lunch. Your guide will enjoy sharing their knowledge of the Marlborough Sounds and it's native flora and fauna as you paddle along.

Meet your guide at our base on the Picton waterfront at 8.45am. After a quick safety briefing and form filling exercise, you launch from the Picton foreshore.
Paddling up the eastern foreshore of the harbour, you will quickly become familiar with the rhythm of sea kayaking. As you make your way into the Grove Arm of the Queen Charlotte Sound, you will pass bush clad shorelines that dominate the area.

After an hour or so of relaxed paddling, it is time for morning tea on a secluded sandy beach.

Feeling refreshed and invigorated, it is time to paddle across the Sound to the pristine shorelines of the western foreshore of the Grove Arm. Your guide enjoys sharing the fascinating history, wildlife and Maori legends of the area. We stop for lunch at one of the local bays, enjoying the peace and tranquility of this remote location.

After lunch head down towards Anakiwa and home to the Outward Bound school, paddling past nesting cormorants and maybe a seal or two.

Your day ends at Ngakuta Bay where you board a van for a 15 minute ride back to Picton.

The Port of Picton in the Queen Charlotte Sound welcomes cruise ships through-out the season. Just 25 minutes south of Picton your local chauffeur/guide takes you on a scenic journey to enjoy the famous Marlborough wines.  Your personal tour offers great flexibility to combine your favourite requests with your chauffeur/guide’s recommendations of the area. Once back in Picton you may like to take in the breath-taking views overlooking the Port of Picton, Queen Charlotte Sound and your ship.

You will travel in a comfortable vehicle of up to eleven seats.
Please advise in advance if you require a baby or booster seat for your child and how many. These need to be booked in advance. 

New Zealand transport laws require all children to use a booster seat up to the height of 147 cm in the type of vehicle that is provided for you.

Your chauffeur/guide is a local owner who has great passion for Marlborough and would look forward to sharing it with you.
